Adventure Kids is evolving with the opening of base camp. The kids who've been participating since last June named their headquarters The Wolf Den. With this blogsite and Facebook messenger, (plus, phone or word of mouth, ALWAYS!) we'll work to keep you up to date with weekly activities.
Monday ~April Fools Day! ~
Starting at 9 am we'll have Babe Land at the Wolf Den over in the fairgrounds. Littles and their little bit-bigger friends and siblings will explore Dalton City boardwalks, toddle on the 'up-up-up - ramps', explore the playground and maybe cozy on the sundeck.
Weather permitting, we're setting up camp-tents for the day. We'll conjure a few short-person 'pranks' to honor The Fool!
Tuesday ~ April 2
9am ~ Noon
Babe Land continues. Those interested in small number playgroups for their toddler are invited to drop by, call, or reach us through other means. We'll work together to map a plan for regular sessions based on your needs.
Tuesday afternoon, our pre-school explorers will walk from Tlingit Park to Dalton City, using the wonderful trails constructed by Chilkoot Indian Association. Once there, we'll start seeds for our summer garden plot.
Throughout the remainder of the week, special activities will be offered for kids and adults. Ms. Vija is the W. Th. coordinator for her afternoon explores. Ms. Ade will be available for M-Th mornings if pre-arranged. Our communication hurdles are interweb dependent and don't always allow for quick shifts. A heads-up the day before is awesome.
First Friday ~ April 5th ~ well, yeah!
Our first featured artist at the Wolf Den is Sam E. Jackson. Sam is helping us to fluff out the space with a nice table-to-desk trade.
Sam will also be our guy for support nods, hand painted name shingles for those who've helped us launch.
We're really proud to display Sam's wonderful images, inspirations from his forever home, for the month of April
We're prepping for our first Bike Kitchen ~ it's time to get our wheels on! Drop by.
Saturday ~ April 6th
Open to all kids and their helper bigs.
Jeremy Reid, bike creator-extordinaire, will show us basic functioning, adjustment and tune-up of your bike. Training wheels? Bring em! We're going to help kids learn balance and basic steering skills and discuss riding with traffic. The beautiful, level sidewalks of the Chilkoot Subdivision will give us practice close to camp. Helmets are way cool.
